The RelateWell Leadership program is an extension of the healthy marriage and family movement. Dr. Marks is the founder of RelateWell, LLC and the Executive Director of ConnectUS 4 Life, Inc., a community-based relationship and community development organization seeking to help business, social service agencies, government and the faith community to enrich and strengthen work teams, marriages and families through education, prevention, and public awareness. Dr. Marks is the author of Relationships for Life, a guide to better developing oneself and their relationships.
Dr. Marks recently served as a Special Assistant for Healthy Marriage and Fatherhood Initiatives for Gov. Brownback of Kansas (2011-2012). Don Marks has spent 35+ years in the financial services and healthcare sectors as a board member and C-suite executive.
Though Don started his career in the early 80’s as an engineer, he became more and more interested in leading teams than designing software. Don says his first experience in a leadership role didn’t go well because he had no leadership experience and as he says, “you shouldn’t try to lead people with the same approach that you manage computer systems.”
This experience led to Don being passionate about personal development and leadership. Don has mentored individuals and teams over the years at several Fortune 500 companies and taught John Maxwell’s leadership to businessmen and government officials in other developing countries.
In 2014 Don retired from the financial services industry. After some rest and planning Don decided to act with an entrepreneurial spirit. This led Don to commercial real estate transactions including retail space, vacation rentals, locations used for clean energy & biofuels, and conservation.
As Don’s professional and personal passion is still personal development and leadership, Don joined forces with his brother Dr. Rick Marks to create RelateWell to help individuals, couples, teams, and organizations learn to connect relationally which is a foundation for success personally and professionally.
Don's holds an engineering degree in Computer and Information Sciences and has held over 20 industry certifications.
Don serves the community as a board member for 2 not for profit organizations.
Don has been married to his high school sweetheart since 1984. He has 2 adult sons who are both married to their high school sweethearts.
Finally, Don’s passions are fishing, family, faith, and leadership though not in that order.
